I used to try and be funny and call it Turkey day. But no longer. We Americans as a whole have been spoiled for so long, riding the coat tails of the sacrifices our Fore Fathers made. They knew the darkness awaiting in the wings and that it would once again rear its ugly head in the future, threatening this great experiment. Threatening their descendents and all they had fought for. They knew that the loss of freedom was only a generation away. This war, this loss of being united didn’t happen overnight. We left our front and back doors unlocked and allowed it in. Allowed it to gain a toe hold, then a foot…and here we are. Feeding the tree of freedom once again with the blood of patriots, who stand ready, in the gap. Lawyers, farmers, walmart greeters, nurses, truck drivers, you name it and they’re represented. That’s what I’m thankful for. Hope. These folks give me hope because they step up and help their fellow citizen to the left and to the right. Not based on color, gender, life-style, religion or party affiliation. None of that matters and should never matter. They do it because we’re American. I’m thankful. Thankful for my fur buddy Skye, my family fighting the good fight alongside me and our friends. Thankful for these cold beans. If we continue moving, supporting each other, we can pull through this together. And truly…truly be thankful.
