Keep moving forward

We creep forward, the tension in the air palpable. Rounds snap overhead, some uncomfortably close. The sound of bullets tearing through the air is unsettling, but you don’t stop. You keep moving forward, keep returning fire, or you risk becoming one of the fallen. I can feel the temptation to drop and curl up, to let the chaos wash over me, but that’s not an option. Not now. Not ever. Not if I’m going to survive this. Not if we’re gonna win America back.

~ Bret Gordon during the retaking of the Barksdale AFB: Book one.

  1. Trying this out to see how it works. Bret and I are very similar. In fact he’s based on me. We as humans, need to keep moving, and moving forward. Backwards is harmful. Sometimes it happens and sometimes it’s warranted, to make a change. We need that movement and we need change but we need to be open to it and able to embrace it. That’s quite frankly the only way to be but I have a secret. I’ve never liked change and I am working through that problem with a therapist and medications. Me having Parkinson’s like Bret does, doesn’t help the situation, the anxiety concerning change. But I’m fighting, I’m not giving in and with all my strength I’m going to move forward through the hail of bullets of negativity from the outside world and from within. Fight. Be kind to yourself. Say good things to yourself so you have the energy and the will to fight. Gather your troops around you for support if you need it. They will help you fight. Parkinson’s is a losing battle but you must fight regardless. I am. So is Bret!
